Kate Coombes came to our organization with a helping heart and helping hands for our families. Kate’s mother, Maria, the owner of Machouse Designs Consignment shop in Blowing Rock has helped change the lives of our families by her generous donations of bedroom sets, dining room tables, and other furniture needed to make our family’s houses, homes, straight from her consignment shop.

Kate recently completed the ninth grade and also is a student at Liberty University through their online college program. At the age of six, Kate saw a need in her community and created “Little Blessings” to help parents in need of diapers for their children. She began raising money and leading a multitude of diaper drives throughout the High Country and collected thousands of diapers for parents in need. Little Blessings was able to bridge the gap and need of diapers for hundreds of families just ours here at HCC.
I was able to meet Kate in my first week working with HCC and thoroughly enjoyed her outgoing personality and willingness to help our children and families. Through the life changing donations, we have recently received, Kate and I were able to shop for some of our children and provide them with summer clothes and shoes. During our shopping, I was able to learn about Kate and her wonderful heart for others.
Kate, as well as her mother Maria, are two tremendously willing, compassionate, and loving women that help change the lives of our children and families. We as an organization are endlessly thankful to have them as partners in changing the lives of HCC families.
